At Ma Petite Ecole we teach French to children and teenagers. We have two Saturday morning schools and one Sunday morning school. The Saturday lessons are held in Belsize Park and in Maida Vale, in London. On Sunday mornings we have a school in Belsize Park.

Students are placed in different groups based on their ability in French and their age.

We have groups for students who understand French. They follow the French National Education programme :

- on Saturday mornings in Maida Vale from 10 AM to 12 PM

- on Saturday mornings in Belsize Park from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM,

- on Sunday mornings in Belsize Park from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM.

We also have groups for students who don't understand French. They will follow our French as a Foreign Language (FFL) program :

- on Saturday mornings in Belsize Park from 9 AM to 10.15 AM,

- on Sunday mornings in Belsize Park from 9 AM to 10.15 AM.

There are a maximum of 8 students for every teacher.

Ma Petite Ecole holds around 30 groups every weekend for children from three and a half years old to 13 years old.

The teachers are all native French speakers and all hold university qualifications. They are trained in teaching the unique program established by Ma Petite Ecole; the teaching methods used are carefully chosen in order to make learning French as entertaining and enjoyable as possible for our students and ensure a steady progress in French.

Our Ethos

Ma Petite Ecole's focus is one of academic excellence . We want our students to achieve to their best of their ability. Our core philosophy is that academic achievement is directly tied to enjoyment of learning , and we have therefore designed a programme to ensure the content is stimulating, varied, and most importantly, enjoyable.

Because of this, our students achieve outstanding results. We have a proven track record of producing exceptionally high results in DELF and GCSE exams, and our students who transition out of the English education system and into the French, international, or bilingual school systems are able to make the move with ease.

OUR TEAM

Our team is made up of motivated and competent teachers, who all hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS.

OUR CLASSES

French-speaking children

Available on Saturdays or Sundays at Belsize Park (NW3), or Saturdays at Maida Vale (W9)

Children in these classes follow the French curriculum in French. We have classes of all primary levels between 'Moyenne Section Maternelle' (4 years old / Nursery) and 'CM2' (Year 6). Once we have taught our younger pupils to read French properly, we move on to teaching them grammar, spelling, and conjugation. Once the children have completed the Primary school levels, we prepare them to sit the DELF exams, starting with the DELF A2.

DELF exams are a set of official French proficiency tests administered by the Centre International d'Études Pédagogiques. Having the DELF B2 qualification means pupils can go to a French university without taking a French A-level or taking an entrance exam in French language. French certifications will also look good on their CV.

Children who have some French-speaking background

Available on Saturdays or Sundays at Belsize Park (NW3)

Some children go regularly on holiday to France, attended a French School when they were younger, or have French relatives who occasionally talk to them in French. Therefore they are not complete beginners; they have a potential to learn French quite fast in a group of children with similar background.

French as a Foreign Language (FFL)

Available on Sundays at Belsize Park (NW3)

These classes are for children aged 5 or older. In class, students work on acquiring and developing French listening and speaking skills as well as French writing and reading skills with the aim to prepare them to take the DELF exams.
